Sanghamitra Roy: Where Education, Art and Service Become a Purpose

For Sanghamitra Roy, achievement is not defined by a single title or a moment of recognition. It is reflected in the lives she touches—as an educator, an artist, a mentor, an author, and a dedicated contributor to the families and communities connected with the Indian Armed Forces.

An English teacher at Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi, Sanghamitra is also a trained Kathak dancer and choreographer. Her journey reached a significant milestone when she was crowned Mrs India Charismatic 2025 at the Mrs India Official National Grand Finale in Jaipur on 21 December 2025. Her accomplishments in education have also earned her the ICOSA Conclave Award for Exemplary Teaching Skills.

Transforming Classrooms Through Creativity

Sanghamitra believes education becomes more meaningful when learning extends beyond textbooks. As a CBSE Resource Person, she specialises in Art Integration in accordance with NEP 2020, bringing creativity and artistic expression into the learning process.

Her commitment to education and community service has been recognised through several AWWA honours. In 2020, she received the President AWWA Award, presented by Mrs Veena Narawane, for her efforts in supporting the education of soldiers’ wards during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, she received the Regional AWWA Central Command Award, presented by Mrs Nidhi Dimri, recognising her work with ASHA School, including initiatives focused on oral health for children with special needs. In 2023, she was honoured with an AWWA Award presented by Mrs Vijaya Khandhuri, Regional President, Western Command, for her efforts towards empowering soldiers’ families.

Her contribution to the Armed Forces community was further acknowledged through an Army Chief’s Memento and the Operation Sindoor Badge, presented by Gen Upendra Dwivedi, PVSM, AVSM, in 2024 and 2025 for her efforts in sending handmade rakhis to soldiers serving at the borders.

When Dance Becomes a Tribute

For Sanghamitra, dance is more than performance—it is a language through which stories, emotions, and national pride can be expressed.

Her choreography has been part of significant national and military occasions. She choreographed for Kargil Vijay Diwas 2019, with the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Chief Guest. She also contributed her choreography to the G20 welcome programme for Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Her artistic journey continues to reach new milestones, with her choreography selected for the Delhi State Republic Day celebrations in January 2026.

Beyond choreography, Sanghamitra has also demonstrated her skills as a presenter, moderator, and public speaker. She anchored the Army Lit Fest “Abhivyakti” in 2021 and 2024, moderated the “Nation First” book release at Manekshaw Centre, and served as a panellist at the launch of Col. (Dr.) Nikita Naredi’s book, Am I Just a Baby Vending Machine.

Her work and achievements have also taken her to media platforms, including RJ Simran’s Radio Mirchi Army Day live show on 15 January 2021. She was subsequently featured by Education Post following her Mrs India Charismatic 2025 achievement.

A Voice Beyond the Classroom

Sanghamitra’s creative expression extends into writing as well. An author published in national print media, she is working on forthcoming English and NCERT-aligned books, combining her experience as an educator with her passion for knowledge and communication.

She also runs a YouTube channel focused on awareness and dance, creating a platform where education, creativity, and social consciousness intersect.

Adding another dimension to her literary journey, Sanghamitra is currently editing the autobiography of Air Chief Marshal B. S. Dhanoa, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VM, bringing together her editorial abilities and interest in documenting stories of service and leadership.

Service at the Heart of Success

For Sanghamitra, recognition has never been the destination. Service remains central to her philosophy.

She supports Aangan, a school dedicated to children of labourers, and contributes to CRY, extending her commitment to education and the welfare of children beyond her professional responsibilities.

Her contribution to education and social awareness has also received international recognition, including the 34th World Environment Day Ecological Education Award and the Excellence in Higher and Tertiary Education Readiness Award.

A Journey Defined by Many Roles

Sanghamitra Roy’s story is one of purposeful versatility. From the classroom to the Kathak stage, from military-community initiatives to national celebrations, and from writing to social service, she has continued to explore ways to create meaningful impact.

Her crowning as Mrs India Charismatic 2025 represents another chapter in a journey that has consistently combined confidence with compassion, creativity with education, and achievement with service.
